Charity Shop Tuesday

This little couple, hand made from fimo clay, i think, caught my eye in the window of the village thrift shop. I have no idea who made them, what the occasion was or even what they represent. The man on the left seems to be a priest or a rabbi?
Anyway i thought they were just charming as is the little salt/pepper shaker and as you can imagine this wooden rabbit toy made a welcome addition to the Easter celebrations.

Happy Easter to all.

Isn't this set of hand painted Adam and Eve Russian dolls just wonderful.
The entire family is wearing fig leaves to spare their blushes and please note even the serpent is present. The smallest doll of all is the apple, of course.

Charity Shop Tuesday

While in a local charity shop a few weeks ago, a small and simple black and white box hidden in a basket of odds and ends, sent my (somewhat small and simple) heart a flutter. Could it be a nicely illustrated set of playing cards, perhaps even snap or old maid? The contents of the wee box were enough to make me squeal in delight as you see.

A little research tells me that this set of Happy Families, produced by oxfam, was realised in the mid 70's, though i am not sure of the exact date. Each of the families represents a different country of the world , one or two of the countries have changed/modified their names since the 70's but the illustrations remain as charming now as they must have been when first published.

One of the things i love most about charity shop hunting is the thought of the story that goes with any item you pick up, the life it might have had before you owned it and the life it will continue to have now it is within your possession.

What about you, any charity shop bargains of late?

Etsy Easter Treasury

Diet tip: Eat an Easter egg before each meal.
It'll take the edge off your appetite, and that way you'll eat less.

I do like a new bar of soap.
Even if it is bigger than the soap dish!

Charity Shop Tuesday

I am a big fan of Gisela Graham products so when i spotted this long, white fish shaped dish in the window of a charity shop i knew it was meant to be. My stash on Saturday included a Louis de Bernieres novel and two handbags as well as this lovely oval mirror, just right for my soon to be new bathroom a bargain at £6.99!

Charity Shop Tuesday

Hot out of my shopping basket (yes i do have one) this morning.

This book was one of the ones highlighted recently for World Book Day and i quite liked the sound of it so i was happy to find it in the charity shop. Dunkeld, on the front of the jug is a village in Perthshire which i am very fond of. If you find yourself in the area do visit there, it's beautiful.
And as for the wee coloured glasses i have a project in mind for them.
Total cost, £2.50.
Bargain.
