Fingerprint Friday

 I thought i had a bust morning but just look at how industrious this little chap has been, his pollen sacks are brimming full. It is  a common misconception  that according to the laws of aerodynamics  the Bumblebee should be incapable of flight due to its dense body size in relation to its small wing span.  Science has since proved that the Bumblebee beats its wings 200 times a second and thus achieves flight. ( Although i think 200 times a second is also pretty impressive!)

I rather liked the idea that there are some of His mysteries we cannot unravel and that the Bumblebee just gets on with his life regardless.  : )

Still i was thrilled to capture this tiny creation on my camera and marveled at his beauty.

I think i am right in saying he is a Buff-tailed bumblebee, Bombus terrestris.

Recently my lil sis gave this wee Burt's Bees facial  kit, she may be trying to tell me something!

It is one of those tiny kits you get in book shops, feng shui in box, teach your cat to knit, crochet an egg cosy, you know the kind of thing. Anyway Burt's bees is one of my fav brands so i was happy to give it a go.  This one is for you  lil sis, before, during and after!

A word of warning, when putting those really yummy toffee filled waffles on the top of your cup to warm through so that the toffee is all gooey, make sure that the cup is not too wide. Although it did seem to fit initially when i went back to scoff my treat the waffle had collapsed and had fallen in to the tea.   

I fished it out and ate it anyway!

Saturday Shopping List

Okay, girls night in last night meant French Martinis, (yum) strawberries and a chick flick. 

We watched "The Women" with Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Jada Pinkett Smith et al, which i am awarding 3/5. Perfectly happy, light, fluff, just right for watching with the girls.  I spent the second half of the movie eying up Meg Ryan's wardrobe which was lovely.

So with that in mind here is my fashion inspired Saturday Shopping list:

Snails again this week for my FPF!

This wee chap was crawling over some of the iron work in the garden and he had gotten stuck. Where his little soft body would go, his hard shell would not follow and it struck me  that perhaps i am not His only creation to find myself squeezed into places i should not be, ( and i don't mean my little black dress!)

I spent yesterday afternoon @ Distance Labs Open Day in Forres, Scotland. Distance Lab is a creative research organisation for digital media technology and design, focused on the theme of distance. They are a group of interdisciplinary professionals including scientists, designers, artists, and engineers. They geanerate ideas and build prototypes that inspire and can lead to new innovative products and services. They claim to "sit at the awkward interface between academia and industry... We don't just philosophise and write about the future, we invent it "

It was fascinating and so inspirational, the projects that were being developed and researched there were both imaginative and original.  Their ethical policy impressed me also, their driving force is to "make the world a better place"

If you get the chance do visit/work with them and in the mean time here is their site.

Just one of their success stories is Lost Values, a company created by Elena Conchero, which melds craft and technology with ethics at the heart of her companies beliefs.
