Driving home yesterday and there was a huge ship, being guided by tiny wee tugs, up the river and into the harbour. I was thinking to myself "oh i wish i had my camera with me" then i remembered i did! So i pulled over and took a photo while watch the ship for a time. I was not the only driver to stop and watch although it is a common occurrence here and it made me wonder what it is that is so fascinating? I think it has something to do with the allure of water in general, but also the scale of these huge vessels that is so compelling.

Shopping List Saturday
This morning i was in town doing some shopping and while in Marks and Spencer's (a UK shop) i noted lots of people using the M&S re-usable shopping totes, (see above) which
feature the UK based fashion illustrator David Downtown. His work is so wonderful, sensual, beautiful and understated. So this weeks Saturday shopping List is inspired by him.
Hope you enjoy!

Finger print Friday
Now, this is a form of recycling : )
old wellies filled with earth and then planted with strawberries. I know that spring is just barely here and here i am already preempting strawberry season, (late May early June here in Scotland). But while helping my 4 year old friend with this task i could not help but think of the miracle of nature and God's hand in this : )
(and how yummy strawberries taste)

Whoo Hoo
At last i managed to snag a treasury!
Of late the treasury seems to have been opening up at times which were not at all accesable to me, i.e. in the wee small hours of the morning,
( i am hard pushed to get out of my bed at regular times so the middle of the night is a no go, even for the chance of a treasury!).

This is a funny little site that i stumbled upon, via someone else's blog, (forgive me for not crediting you i could not remember). Anyhow you get to create a super hero!
Here i am,
Lord knows what i intend to do with that whip thing, kick ass i suppose! He he.
And now for something a lot less vain,
The winners of my pay it forward give away.
Names were drawn at random and are as follows:
Kate Boyce
Gudrun Johnston
Gillian 1
(please note there were two Gillians entered so i named them 1 and 2 so as to distinguish one from the other)
Their print choices will be sent out real soon.

Fingerprint Friday
As i arrived home the other night i noticed how perfect the sky was, a most beautiful shade of blue, the moon was just a small sliver, like a smile in the sky and next to it there was just one star in the sky.
I rushed inside, grabbed my camera and tried to capture this moment.
Although it was lovely i was not so overwhelmed that i was shaking but considering the quality of my snaps you would be forgiven for thinking so. Still, i tried!

It's Fingerprint Friday and this week i thought i would do something a wee bit different. A few weeks a go i traded with a Kristin @ loveartworks on etsy for, amongst other things a hand built ceramic mug with the quote "Be the change you wish to see in the World". Since then, it is amazing how many times this quote by Gandhi seems to pop up in my life! Recently i was using the book "Fighting the Banana Wars and other Fair Trade battles" with my students and there toward the end of this wonderful book i found it! Then again it appeared in another book "The Guerilla Art Kit". It smiled to think that this quote is following me around. I am resolved to try and find out more about Mahatma Gandhi, and try at least to put this quote into practice.

Recently I've seen one or two blogs promoting a PIF (pay it forward) and have been fortunate to be included in one! (crafty remix blog- posted dated feb 06). Since it is only fair to spread the love, I am happy to send 3 people one of my prints and in return all you have to do is "pay it forward", you do not have to be a maker or a blogger to take part, you could clear your neighbour's path or help a work colleague or something like that.
All you have to do is visit my shop and leave a note here on my blog to say which print you like and if i draw you name i will happily send you that print. Three names will be drawn at random on Saturday 14th March.
