As everyone in the UK knows Raymond Briggs, "The Snowman" is a firmly established favourite tradition. The book was first published way back in 1978, can you believe!
(i'm not sure how well known it is outside the UK, would love you to let me know though.)
However it has become a firm tradition in our family to go and see Christopher Bell conducting the Royal Scottish National Orchestra performing The Snowman live, while the animated story is shown on a huge screen. Christmas music, carols and songs make up an evening of entertainment. I always take my niece who just loves the silly song where all the audience has to stand up and join in with all the actions! This year it was the penguin song, so the whole audience was hopping about like penguins at one point!!!

Oh c'mon, be truthful, you just loved hoppin' about like a mad crazy penguin! You were probably practicing your penguin moves all week leading up to the show!

I haven't heard of that book, but that doesn't mean that it's not popular here. It may be. I'm not very clued up on the big Chrissy traditions. I still haven't put my tree up!

We love The Snowman book and movie at our house. I recently bought the piano sheet music because I love the 'Walking in the Air' song... it's lovely. I think it's pretty popular in the US, we always see the book every year in the shops. Recently I did a post about the music and several people commented that it was one of their faves!
Love your festive blog banner!

The Snowman! I love that film, it is a Christmas gather to watch it every year in my family. Glad you enjoyed the concert and love your penguin selection :)
